Leshyn, Barbara H. Spain International Student Travel

Fall of 2013 and January of 2014, I developed a wintermester class for the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences. The class is called Spanish, Agriculture and Spain. The purpose of the class is for students to learn agricultural Spanish while visiting different agricultural sites in Spain. Classes were held in the mornings and evenings and during long bus and train rides to various agricultural facilities. The class departed on Jan 02, 2014 and returns Jan 16, 2014. Students traveled in the states of Catalonia, Spain and Valencia, Spain. We visited the following industries: the largest nursery in Catalonia, the largest garden center in Catalonia, green houses and smaller family owned nurseries and garden centers, 3 botanical gardens, a dairy that makes artisan yogurt, a sheep cheese farm, a pig vaccine laboratory, a pig farm, a sausage factory, orange groves, urban forests, the largest agricultural research facility in Spain and the cork oak forest.
