Preparation of Release Request

Requests for germplasm release should be submitted by the originating scientist(s) to the department head for peer review before submission to the Plant Germplasm Release Committee. The department head will appoint faculty, who are knowledgeable of the crop, to review the request asking for further suggestions before returning it to the originator. In the case of off-campus Agricultural Research and Extension Centers (ARECs), the review should include faculty from the academic department on campus to keep the department abreast of new release requests. Likewise, off-campus faculty should be included as appropriate in reviews originating in the academic department(s) on campus. The department will submit 12 copies of the release request to the chair of Plant Germplasm Release Committee when the internal review is completed.
