College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Commencement FAQ's
How do I prepare for commencement?
- Apply for your degree via Hokie Spa.
- Update your mailing address so your diploma is shipped to the right location.
- Use #HokieGrad to share your photos to be included in the University ceremony. Order your cap and gown at Grad Fair or online.
I am a Master’s Candidate; how will I be involved in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences ceremony?
We are so excited to host the Master’s Candidates at the CALS Ceremony in Lane Stadium. All master’s candidates will be seated together and will walk the stage and be recognized.
What time should I arrive at Lane Stadium for the ceremony?
Students should arrive at 6:30pm arriving 1 hour prior to the ceremony.
I am graduating with distinction, where do I buy my honor sash?
Distinctions are determined by you GPA the end of Fall 2024. All students with distinction may purchase sashes at the University Bookstore. Should you have questions, please contact calsap@vt.edu
I am a Dean’s Scholar and have not received my pin. Where can I pick it up and how do I wear it on my regalia?
If you were notified that you are a Dean Scholar and have not picked up your pin, please come by Litton-Reaves 1060.
Does the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences have a special tassel?
Yes, you will receive a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences maize tassel when you purchase your regalia.
Do I receive special college cords to wear with my regalia?
We do not have a cord for CALS, but check with your department, clubs and organizations to see if they have a special cord.
When will I receive my diploma?
Every student will walk across the stage in Lane Stadium. Diplomas will be mailed to your updated mailing address in HOKIESPA in about 6-8 weeks.
I am not getting emails about commencement. How do I get my name added so I can get the emails?
Students would need to e-mail VTCLASS@VT.EDU to request that they are included in the appropriate graduation class listserv.
