How to Nominate Alumni
Awards will be presented at a dinner event on Friday, March 27, 2026.
SUBMISSIONS
Nomination packets will be considered when submitted following the process outlined below:
- Recevied by 11:59 p.m. on Tuesday, December 9, 2025*
- Sent as one combined PDF per nominee
- File named as follows: 2026_Award Name_Nominee Last Name_Nominee First Name
- Emailed to calsadvancement@vt.edu
Nominees for each award will be eligible to be considered for three subsequent years, and the awards committee will reach out to confirm renomination and provide an opportunity to update submitted materials for consideration.
*Any submissions received after the deadline will be held for the following year’s review process.
AWARD CRITERIA
- Two alumni will be recognized: one undergradaute nominee and one graduate nominee
- Nominees should have completed their respective degrees (undergradaute or graduate) no earlier than 2015
- History of philanthropy to Virginia Tech is an expectation for recognition, no matter how big or small
- Departments are encouraged to recognize nominees internally
Nominees will be evaluated based on the following categories:
- Professional Contributions (25%)
- Community Service (15%)
- Leadership (15%)
- Profesional Excellence & Innovation (15%)
- Service to Virginia Tech and/or the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (30%)
- Nominees should have completed their degree prior to 2015
- History of philanthropy to Virginia Tech is an expectation for recognition, no matter how big or small
- Departments are encouraged to recognize nominees internally
Nominees will be evaluated based on the following categories:
- Professional Contributions (25%)
- Community Service (15%)
- Leadership (15%)
- Profesional Excellence & Innovation (15%)
- Service to Virginia Tech and/or the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (30%)
- Recognizes a College of Agriculture and Life Sciences alumnus or alumna who has demonstrated Ut Prosim through professional contributions, leadership, and service impacting global agriculture and life sciences, either internationally or nationally in their own country.
- Departments are encouraged to recognize nominees internally
Nominees will be evaluated based on the following categories:
- Global Professional Contributions (25%)
- Community Service (15%)
- Leadership (15%)
- Profesional Excellence & Innovation in the Global Arena (15%)
- Service to Virginia Tech and/or the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (30%)
- Recognizes a friend of the college who has not recieved a degree from Virginia Tech and demonstrates a committment to the CALS experience, as well as the spirit of our motto, Ut Prosim (That I May Serve).
Nominees will be evaluated based on the following categories:
- Professional contributions to their field (25%)
- Leadership (25%)
- Service to Virginia Tech and/or the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (25%)
- Philanthropy (25%)
- Recognizes any Virginia Tech graduate or friend of the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
- Prior CALS Alumni Orgnization awardees are eligible, but may only be inducted into the Hall of Fame once
- Honors individuals with significant leadership, service, and philanthropic contributions that exemplify Ut Prosim and create lasting impact on CALS, Virginia Tech, their community, and the fields of agriculture and life sciences
NOMINATION REQUIREMENTS
For each of the above awards, complete nomination packets include:
- Nomination form
- Two letters of support that reflect the award criteria
- No more than two pages each
- One must be from an academic department/unit
- Are combined into one PDF with a file name as follows:

It is encouraged to include nominees in the process of filling out the form to ensure the information provided is comprehensive.
Complete nomination packets include:
- Nomination form
- Three letters of support that reflect the award criteria

Nominations should originate within an academic department/unit.
The Hall of Fame inductee will be selected by a committee comprised of CALS leadership.
Complete nomination packets for the CALS Hall of Fame include:
- Nomination form
- A letter of support from an academic department/unit leader
- Are combined into one PDF with a file name as follows:
2026_Award Name_Nominee Last Name_Nominee First Name
Supplemental materials such as a CV/resume, additional letters of support, or news stories, other award announcements, photos, etc. may be included to support the nomination if desired.
