Interested in getting more involved with the CALS Alumni Organization?

JOIN THE BOARD OF DIRECTORS

Board member terms run for three years, based on the academic calendar of July 1 to June 30.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF BOARD MEMBERS

Board Operations:

Attend four board meetings each year (two in-person, two virtual) and participate in discussions and contribute ideas
Review and support the CALSAO board work plan
Actively participate in a priority area – Alumni Engagement, Student Engagement, Recognition, Student Support
Recruit CALS graduates for board positions, committees and event/program participation
Attend and volunteer at CALSAO events

Advocacy:

Serve as an ambassador for the college and for the university when appropriate
Be familiar with college and university priorities

OPPORTUNITIES AND BENEFITS

Keep informed and stay involved with the college
Support and serve your alma mater and the CALS Hokie community

Board of director selection takes place each May, but feel free to nominate yourself or a fellow CALS Hokie at any time.

Nominations for the 2024-25 academic year should be submitted by April 19th.

VOLUNTEER ON A COMMITTEE

Not quite ready to commit to a three year board term? Volunteers are needed for our committees and are appointed on an annual basis.

Purpose: To build goodwill by providing opportunities for alumni to network and interact with each other, and with College faculty, staff, and students. A special effort will be made to engage young alumni and to strengthen their affinity to the College and the Alumni Organization.
