Current Employee of the Month Award Winner

CALS employee of the month, Andrew Keffer
First and foremost, Andrew is an outstanding herd manager. Hired by CALS to increase the number of replacement heifers at the VTDC, Andrew has successfully achieved this goal through his dedication and hard work. However, he consistently goes above and beyond his role. Andrew ensures that faculty and students can carry out even the most challenging aspects of our research, teaching, and extension projects. He brings a proactive, solution-oriented approach to every new request, embodying a "can-do" attitude that is invaluable to our team. A recent experience highlights Andrew's commitment and leadership. On Saturday, September 27, our research team arrived at Kentland Farm at 5:00 a.m. to begin sampling for a new project, only to find the main entrance flooded due to Hurricane Helene. I texted Andrew at 5:02 a.m. seeking alternate access, and within a minute, he responded with clear directions, helping us reach the farm despite the unexpected challenge. Throughout the day, Andrew maintained high spirits and clear communication, rallying VTDC staff, students, and faculty to overcome the obstacles and keep our project on track.
