Deanna Sumners

Deanna Sumners grew up in Rockingham County, where she spent her childhood working in her family’s retail greenhouse and helping with their feeder beef cattle operation. Those early experiences led her to develop a strong interest in production agriculture, animal science, and the business side of agricultural enterprises. Through 4-H, she raised and showed market steers and Red Angus heifers and began building her own small herd, solidifying her commitment to the agricultural community.

Today, Deanna serves as the Resource Coordinator for Virginia Cooperative Extension within CALS Advancement. She supports fundraising efforts across VCE and is the primary point of contact for charitable grants, gifts-in-kind, cause marketing partnerships, and other development-related inquiries.
