Dickson Otieno is Program Associate with Virginia Tech College of Agriculture and Life Sciences (CALS) Global Programs and Virginia Cooperative Extension (VCE). Dickson’s focus is mapping out grant opportunities and providing insights on avenues for expanded international collaboration, particularly in Africa.

Before joining CALS Global and VCE, Otieno was the Project Manager at the World Bank-sponsored Africa Centre of Excellence in Sustainable Agriculture and Agribusiness Management (CESAAM) at Egerton University in Kenya, where key among his roles were partnerships and collaborations and monitoring and evaluation of the project.

Dickson’s professional and research interest is in international higher education & development, community development, youth-led extension, and agri-enterprise development, with experience mostly in Africa.

Dickson holds a Bachelor of Science in Agribusiness Management and a Master of Science in Agri-enterprise Development, both from Egerton University. Mr. Otieno is currently enrolled for a PhD in Agricultural Leadership and Community Education in Virginia Tech’s College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
