Julie Shlisky
Julie Shlisky aims to enhance research visibility and assist leadership in developing mechanisms to keep the vast breadth of stakeholders in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences and the Virginia Agricultural Research and Extension Centers informed. Alongside research subject matter experts, she helps to translate academic research into content for dissemination.
Before joining CALS, Dr. Shlisky managed communication and engagement activities at the Arkansas Children's Nutrition Center, one of the USDA-ARS's six Human Nutrition Research Centers and at the New York Academy of Sciences. In these roles, she worked to develop rules of engagement for working with diverse sectors and facilitating working groups around topic areas of obesity, diabetes and nutrition related diseases; nutrition for aging populations; and technology and innovation for food, agriculture, and nutrition. She holds a PhD from Penn State in Nutritional Sciences.
