Organizational design of the 4-H program and extension service, administrative planning, control and budgeting as well as marketing and resource development. Human resource management and recruitment in the 4-H program.

Syllabus

Learning Objectives

By the end of this foundational course, the student should be able to:

  • Describe competencies of managing a youth program;
  • Develop plans to manage youth program funding, marketing, volunteer management, and evaluation;
  • Recognize diversity of youth program models and options available for youth after school;
  • Reflect on observations of a youth program improving the lives of adolescents;
  • Explain the factors associated with adolescent development, leadership, and learning;
  • Evaluate the literature to determine research-based practices associated with managing a youth program; and
  • Evaluate the literature to determine researched-based findings associated with youth program outcomes of success.
