Kira Gantt
Kira Gantt is the Grants Coordinator for the Virginia Tech College of Agriculture and Life Sciences, bringing expertise in cybersecurity education and outreach capabilities for enriching the workforce development and training for the agriculture and food sectors of Virginia. Previously, she served as the Virginia Tech Integrated Security Destination Area Program Manager, Associate Director of Outreach and Education for the Virginia Tech Hume Center for National Security and Technology, and Project Director for the Virginia Tech Transportation Institute, and Manager of Education and Career Programs for the American Association of Immunologists. Kira’s graduate work was in immunoparasitology and she has published in cancer immunotherapy and RNA-stability. She assists faculty members with development and submission of large grant proposals. She identifies funding opportunities; gathers resources and compiles a knowledgebase for a specific proposal; stimulates the formation of research teams by fostering social and professional links among researchers at Virginia Tech and other institutions; and serves as liaison with the office of sponsored programs. In addition, Kira assists the faculty with proposal development and preparation including: establishing a development timeline for the team; developing budgets; providing editorial feedback; assisting with graphics; collecting and compiling cost sharing documents; obtaining letters of support and commitment, current/pending statements and biographies; and completing forms.
