Sheila has worked at Virginia Tech for over 20 years at the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.  She began working in CALS Research in May 2024 as the administrative assistant to Dr. Mary Burrows.   Prior to that, she served as the Administrative Assistant to the Director in the School of Plant and Environmental Sciences.  From 2015-2020, Sheila worked as the Human Resources Administrative Assistant at Gardner-Webb University. 

Sheila has a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Science from the Pamplin College of Business at Virginia Tech.  She has a Certified Administrative Professional (CAP) certificate (currently known as the International Association of Administrative Professionals {IAAP}) and the certificate for the Introduction to Fiscal Support.

In her current role, Sheila manages and prioritizes scheduling and travel for the Associate Dean for CALS Research; drafts and edits correspondence  and reports on behalf of the Associate Dean and Director; coordinates individual and group meetings including agendas, materials, and guest speakers; serves as a point of contact for administrative units, academic units, students, employees, stakeholders, and visitors; provides events management organization and oversight including special event management venues and staff; tracks, reconciles and monitors funds associated with CALS Research and VAES; assists with reporting to various agencies including internal and external to the university including support of regional, national, and international efforts; assists in effective communications with stakeholders including listservs, email, newsletters, website content, and others.
