Course Spotlight: Science of Food Preperation Lab (HNFE 3024)

This dynamic lab course applies principles of food science and food preparation techniques to health promotion, disease prevention and disease management. Students work with different ingredients, explore the functions of key ingredients, and learn how to modify recipes for reasons related to human health, food sensory attributes, emerging dietary patterns, food access, and sustainable food production practices. There is a weekly lecture (on Mondays) and one weekly lab per lab section. The course is considered "hybrid" with some work completed on Canvas (pre-lab quizzes and post-lab reflections, discussions). HNFE 3024 is currently limited to HNFE students, Master's in Nutrition and Dietetics, and Food, Science, and Technology students.

The Virginia Tech College of Agriculture and Life Sciences Alumni Organization (CALSAO) strengthens relationships between the college, its alumni, and the industries they serve. All graduates of any degree program offered by the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech are automatically members of the College Alumni Organization. Upcoming Event

This year the CALS ALumni Association will be celebrating the December Graduates with a New Alumni Launch party this winter. This event is for graduating seniors and  will be held on the fall semester reading day, December 11th at the Holtzman Alumni Center.
