Special Note from Dr. Sumner, CALS Associate Dean of Academic Programs

The start of the fall 2025 semester is almost here. We are busy getting things ready for our college weeks of welcome social that happens on Friday, August 22. While this is an exciting time, it can also be stressful and scary for students and families. Everyone and everything are in transition and changing. On the day you move your student onto campus, you are invited to stop in Litton Reaves Hall for refreshments and an opportunity to meet the CALS Academic Programs staff. I encourage you to check in often with your student and if you sense they need some guidance, remind them to come see us. Everyone in 1060 Litton Reaves is ready to assist. The most academically successful students at Virginia Tech attend all classes, complete assignments on time, form study groups, attend tutoring sessions, and ask lots of questions of their advisors. If you or your student have any questions, please email calsap@vt.edu.
