It's a winter wonderland!
It has been a snowy season here in Blacksburg, so for some, traveling home may be difficult, and for others, it may be a time when they become ill. During these times, it’s great for students to have a small reminder of home. Here are a few ways you can remind your student(s) that you are thinking of them:
Try one of these:
- Sending care packages with their favorite snacks or homemade treats, including small comfort items, like a cozy blanket, photos from home, or a favorite mug
- Mailing handwritten notes, cards, or letters with words of encouragement
- Checking in with a quick text or phone call during busy or stressful weeks
- Sharing family updates or inside jokes to help them feel connected
- Sending digital gift cards for coffee, groceries, or meals during tough weather
- Planning a future visit or countdown to the next time you’ll see them
Course Spotlight: ENT 2004 Insects and
Human Society
Instructor: Instructor: Drs Ksenia Onufrieva and James M. Wilson
Insects and Human Society is a great discovery course for the fascinating world of insects and how human society benefits from and interacts with them. From bugs to beetles, butterflies to bees, we take a dive into insect diversity, conservation, control and insects in our diet. We approach this class as a fun introduction to insects and humans and then welcome students to take part in larger discussions about science and society, and where we can work together towards a brighter future. Come for an interactive course with no prerequisites and leave with a new and greater appreciation for the insect world with a healthy dose of curiosity. This course meets Pathways Reasoning in the Natural Sciences (4) and Intercultural and Global Awareness outcomes. It also counts towards the Entomology Undergraduate Minor.
- Offered In-person in the Fall, Online Asynchronous in the Spring
