“Being a Carver scholar means mostly that I have a community of likeminded people who enjoy learning. It feels good to be a part of an organization full of people of multiple different backgrounds who want to better the world in their respective fields.”

Taelor is a first-year graduate student at Virginia Tech. She is working in the School of Animal Sciences department under Dr. Michelle Rhoads's Lab with research that entails Heat Stress and its effects on lactating dairy cattle. Outside of the Lab, you can see me being active on campus, such as working for the Black Cultural Center (BCC) as the Programs and Outreach Coordinator as well as the Graduate Vice President of Minorities in Agriculture Natural Resources and Related Sciences (MANRRS).

Taelor received a Bachelor of Science in Animal & Poultry Sciences from Virginia Tech and is currently working towards a Master of Science in Animal & Poultry Sciences within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
