Kendrick Spencer

Pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Education from the Agricultural, Leadership, and Community Education Department within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences

Kendrick grew up in an extremely small farming town in Texas called Apple Springs, and lived in a community that was a former freedom colony called Nigton; he comes from a family of cattle and pea farmers. After earning his master’s degree, Kendrick served as agricultural educator in Frisco ISD and Grapevine - Colleyville ISD, which are both suburbs of Dallas/Ft. Worth Metroplex. At Virginia Tech, his research interests include the integration of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM) in agricultural education, Argumentation Skills, the Engineering Design Process, and Culturally Relevant Pedagogy. 

Kendrick received an undergraduate degree in Agricultural Science from Texas A&M University and a master’s degree in Agricultural Education and Communications from the University of Florida. He is currently a Doctoral student in Agricultural, Leadership and Community Education within VT’s College of Agriculture and Life Science.
