Arogeanae Brown

Woman of color with long braids with arms crossed and smiling
“I became interested in science ... to know the foundations, principles and details of life. To see the massiveness, density, and thickness of things at its smallest level, to know what happened, what is happening, and what can happen.”

Within Arogeanae’s master’s program and thesis work, they found passion in investigating and understanding the motivations and missions of non-profit organizations that are African American led, serving a majority African American youth population in providing educational space with emphasis in agriculture and its sciences. Although she has spent much of her free time partaking in non-profit youth organizations, Arogeanae has also found a passion to explore the world and travel, which has led her to a new research interest area of studying African American agricultural non-profit programs that have gone abroad to Africa to continue the work.

Arogeanae has earned a B.S. in Agriculture Business and Economics from Virginia State University and an M.S. in Agricultural Leadership and Community Education from Virginia Tech. She is pursuing a PhD in Agricultural Leadership and Community Education within the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Virginia Tech.
