Man with light skin and brown hair is wearing a blue button-up shirt standing under an archway. His arms are crossed in front of his chest and he is smiling.
"The natural beauty of the environment inspired me to contribute to sustainability in agriculture, especially for the benefit of those underrepresented in the natural world and human society"

Aleks is passionate about improving the sustainability of global agriculture. Currently, he conducts research in Dr. Mark Williams’ lab focused on plant-microbe interactions in the soil. Amid global climate change and mass extinction of diverse species, Aleks believes that advancement in agriculture can contribute significant mitigation of these events which detriment all life on Earth.

Aleks graduated from Virginia Tech with an associate degree in agricultural technology and a bachelor's degree in environmental horticulture and is pursuing his PhD at Virginia Tech’s School of Plant and Environmental Sciences.
